The Japanese authorities plan to have the program’s structure and an online verification system ready by fiscal 2027, with a trial phase anticipated to start the following year. Additionally, the government is considering setting minimum Japanese language proficiency standards as a requirement for permanent residency and citizenship applications before the full rollout of the program.
